Klipsch, a speaker manufacturer based in Indianapolis, has signed a naming rights agreement with the 24,000-capacity amphitheater formerly known as Verizon Wireless Music Center. The company has previous partnerships with Live Nation at Klipsch Amphitheater at Bayfront Park in Miami and at Irving Plaza powered by Klipsch in New York.

The venue, which opened in 1989, sits on 228 acres. It has hosted a variety of artists, from Frank Sinatra to Metallica to Elton John.

Klipsch, founded in 1946, established its corporate headquarters in Indianapolis in 1989. The company provides more than just speakers, but also home theater, professional cinema, computer speakers, iPod docks and headphones.

The naming rights announcement occurred at the venue the morning of Oct. 27 and included video appearances from Lou Reed, Kyle Cook of Matchbox Twenty, and other musicians who are Klipsch fans.

The company also announced a charity initiative for the 2012 concert season. Klipsch revealed a custom-built Orange County Chopper motorcycle — outfitted with their speakers — that will be signed by artists performing at the venue over the year. At the end of the concert season, the motorcycle will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
