Orleans Arena in Las Vegas claimed the top two spots in the 5,001-10,000 capacity category for this week’s Hot Tickets chart. The top event was a four-day run of Circus Spectacular. The self-promoted show brought more than 13,000 people to see the elephants, acts and other animals that make up the circus. The Las Vegas Classic was also at Orleans Arena, with No. 6 Baylor beating West Virginia in a stunning 83-81 overtime victory. The two-day basketball tournament sold tickets starting at $45.

After an absence from Venues Today’s Hot Tickets last week during a long run, Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour by Cirque du Soleil is back with four performances on this week’s chart. The highest grossing was 32 shows at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Dec. 3-27. Tickets ranged from $50-$250, with the entire run grossing nearly $14.5 million. Prices were consistent for all of the shows. The Cirque show goes to HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., Jan. 13-15 and then heads to Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif., Jan. 17-18.

The Vegas trend continues with the MAACO Bowl at Sam Boyd Stadium, Las Vegas, Dec. 22. The college football game pitted Idaho’s Boise State against Arizona State University. The game, which Boise State won, brought 21,760 college football fans to the stadium and grossed almost $2 million. In other sports news, Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio, hosted the Harlem Globetrotters Dec. 28. The event brought in over $100,000.
