Psychedellic rockers Phish had a successful stop at Long Beach (Calif.) Arena. Tickets were $60 for the Aug. 16 performance that brought out 13,121 attendees. Tonight, Aug. 22, the group has a soldout show at Starlight Theatre in Kansas City, Mo., and another full house Aug. 24 at Oak Mountain Aphitheatre in Pelham, Ala.
Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw's Brothers of the Sun tour reclaimed the top spot in the 15,001 or more category this week, along with holding onto the next two slots. The duo's Aug. 11 date at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., grossed more than $5.5 million. Brothers of the Sun brought almost 50,000 fans to Ford Field in Detroit Aug. 18 and played FedEx Field in Landover, Md., Aug. 12. The tour has only two shows and one city left, with back-to-back dates Aug. 24-25 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass.
Il Divo posts a strong showing in two of our Hot Tickets categories this week — 5,000 or fewer seats and the 10,001-15,000-seat categories. Tickets for the Aug. 7 show at John Labatt Centre (soon to be renamed Budweiser Gardens) in London, Ontario, ranged from $51.79-$128.09. The Aug. 12 performance at Verizon Wireless Amphithteatre at Encore Park in Alpharetta, Ga., grossed $381,334. The two smaller shows at Borgata Resort Spa & Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., and Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh grossed almost $250,000 each. Il Divo played their last U.S. show of the year Aug. 19 at Wells Fargo Center in Denver and have a couple of weeks off before heading to Europe. Their first European show is Sept. 12 at Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland.
