Kim Bedier is headed south to manage venues in Tacoma, Wash.
After 10 years at the Comcast Arena in Everett, Wash., the longtime venue pro will take over as Tacoma’s public assembly facilities director. The position has her overseeing the 23,000-seat Tacoma Dome, the 7,500-seat Cheney Stadium used for baseball, the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center, the Bicentennial Pavilion, the city’s Pantages Theater, Rialto Theater and Theater on the Square. Interim director Rob Henson will return to his position as GM of the Tacoma Dome.
“It’s a new challenge for me,” said Bedier. “I think it’s a good career move to have a portfolio of venues in my background.”
Bedier said her main responsibilities will be helping to book the various buildings and finding ways to help the facilities work together to increase tourism and attract large events.
Prior to working at the Comcast Arena, Bedier helped open two Canadian venues — the Air Canada Centre in Toronto and the Crystal Centre in Grande Prairie, Alberta. She is the second vice chair of the International Association of Venue Managers and a graduate of Acadia University in Wolfville in Nova Scotia.
